Competitions

The Tuna Cub of Tasmania conducts the following competitions each year.

All competitions have categories for Adults Males and Females, Juniors (12-15 years) and Small Fry, (11 and under).

Australia Day Shark & Game Fish Tournament *

This competition is held each year on the Saturday of the Australia Day weekend. Prizes are awarded in heaviest and point score categories as well as tag and release. Sharks and other game fish are the target species for this event.
Tasmanian Light Line Shoot Out *

This competition is held each year in the latter half of February. It is a light tackle event (tackle 10kg and under). Prizes are awarded in heaviest and game fish (other than sharks) divisions. There are also tag and release prize categories.
Australian Bluefin Tuna Contest *

This biennial 2-day contest is held in late April in even-numbered years. The Contest includes a Presentation Dinner. This is our biggest event of the year with crews coming from around Tasmania and interstate to compete. There are typically upwards of 70 boats competing over the 2-day event with awards for heaviest fish, point score, and tag and release.
Tom Jenkins Memorial Bluefin Tuna Contest *

This biennial 2-day contest is held in late April in odd-numbered years. The Contest includes a Presentation Dinner. This is our biggest event of the year with crews coming from around Tasmania and interstate to compete. There are typically upwards of 70 boats competing over the 2-day event with awards for heaviest fish, point score, and tag and release.
Tuna Rallies

These are club events, held roughly every 2 weeks from March to July, there being 8 events in all.
Combination Rallies

The club conducts 2 Combination Rallies in January and February each year.
Family Fish Fun Days

This event occurs 3 times in November and December each year with the third day incorporating a Christmas BBQ.
